How to fill JEE Main Application Form 2021
The form filling process is comprised of various stages like registration, uploading documents, submitting application fees etc. The application forms submitted after the last date will not be considered. The filled-in application form will be submitted through online mode only. Students can fill the application form in online mode only. No hard copy of the application form will be accepted. The filling of JEE Main application form consists of steps given below:

Step- 1 Registration
- Visit the official website of JEE Main
- On the website homepage, click on the “Apply for JEE (Main)-2021” under “New Candidate Registration.”
- After clicking on “Apply for JEE Main Exam“, an instruction page will open on the screen
- Students are advised to read the instructions carefully before start filling the application form
- After reading the instructions, click on the “I have to download Information Bulletin and read all the instructions”.
- Then further click on “Proceed to Apply Online”.
Fill the following details:
- Nationality
- State of Eligibility
- Select Identification Type
- Enter Identification Number
- Candidates Name
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Enter Security Pin
- Security Pin
Once done, click on the Submit button
Enter Exam Related Details
In this section, students have to fill the details related to Mode of Examination, Question Paper Medium and course in which student wants to apply.
Applying For:
A student can select any one of the following options:
- JEE Main Paper-1 (B.E./B.Tech only)
- JEE Main Paper-2 (B.Arch only)
- JEE Main Paper-3 (B.Planning only)
- JEE Main Paper-1 & Paper-2
- JEE Main Paper-2 & Paper-3
- JEE Main Paper-1 & Paper-3
- JEE Main Paper-1, Paper-2 & Paper-3
Mode of Examination
In the mode of examination, students have to select either from Pen and Paper mode or computer-based test mode.
- If students have opted. for P&P mode then they have the option to choose 4 test centres as per their preference
- Those who select the computer-based test can choose only one exam centre
Question Paper Medium
A student can choose any one question paper medium from English/ Hindi/ Gujarati.
Step- 2 Fill JEE Main Application Form
Personal Details
Fill the personal details such as
- Candidates Name
- Fathers Name
- Mothers Name
- State of Eligibility
- Category
- Person with Disability
- Are you Diabetic?
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Nationality
- In case of girl candidate, are you only child of your parents?
- Place of Residence
Academic Details
Enter the following academic details:
- Year of passing class 10th or equivalent
- School Board of class 12th/qualifying examination
- Name of the qualifying exam passed/appearing
- Place of class 12th/qualifying exam schooling
- Year of passing or appearing class 12th/Qualifying exam
- Type of institution of class 12th/Qualifying exam
- Percentage of marks in class 12th/Qualifying exam
- Roll number of class 12th/Qualifying exam
- Appeared/Appearing for improvement of class 12th/Qualifying exam in all the 4/5 subjects as per the scheme of the board
- Mode of preparation
- Name of the college/school from where passed/appearing
- Address of the school/college from where passed or appearing
Mailing Address Details
Enter the following details:
- Country
- State
- District
- Address
- Locality
- City/town/village
- Pin Code
- Email address
- Mobile number
- Landline number
Guardian Details
Enter the following guardian details:
- Father’ s/Guardian’s qualification
- Father’ s/Guardian’s Occupation
- Father’ s/Guardian’s annual income
- Mother’s qualification
- Mother’s occupation
- Mother’s annual income
Choose Password
In this step, students have to choose a password, security question and security answer.
Password Specifications
- Password must be 8 to 13 characters long
- It must have at least one upper case, one lower case alphabet and at least one numeric value
- The password should also have one special character from these special characters – !@#$%^&*-
- Click on the Next button
Verification of Contact Details
In this step, verification of the Email ID and Mobile number must be done. Students are required to verify all the details before uploading the images.
- Students have to verify their submitted mobile number and email address.
- OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of the candidate, and after submitting the number, students have to confirm their email ID.
Step- 3 Scanning and Uploading Documents
After verifying the details, students have to click on Upload Scanned Images button. The uploaded documents are candidates Photograph and Signature. Both the scanned images should be in JPG/ JPEG format.
Photograph
- The photograph should be passport size with name and date of taking a photograph
- The photograph can be coloured or black/ white with a clear background
- Spectacles are allowed, but Polaroid photograph is not acceptable
- Size of the image should be 3.5 X 4.5 cm (width x height)
- File size should be more than 4 kb and less than 40 kb
Signature
- Students have to take the signature on the white page only
- The box size of the signature should be 3.5 X 1.5 cm
- The file size should not be less than 1 kb and not more than 30 kb
Step- 4 Payment of JEE Main Application Fee
- Now, after filling all the details and uploading necessary documents, students have to pay the application fees.
- The fees can be paid via credit card/ debit card/ Paytm or in cash via Syndicate/ Canara/ ICICI bank through e-challan
- Once the application fee is paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances
- After successful payment, students have to select the exam date and book their slot
- Students are advised to download and take the printout of the filled-in application form for future reference

NTA has announced that Aadhar Card is not mandatory for applying for JEE Main 2021. However, it can be used as an ID Proof by the candidates.
