BCECE Eligibility Criteria: Qualification, Age, Basic Criteria & More

Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) is organized by the BCECE Board (BCECEB). Those who want to get admission in the engineering, medical, agriculture, and other undergraduate courses offered by the top colleges/institutions in Bihar apply for BCECE exam. Before applying, candidates need to check the BCECE eligibility criteria.

To appear for the exam, you need to be eligible. Here we have explained the BCECE Eligibility Criteria 2022 in detail.

BCECE Eligibility Criteria 2022 [Course-Wise]

The eligibility criteria are different for each course. Here is the complete category-wise, course-wise eligibility criteria.

BCECE Eligibility Criteria for Engineering and Pharmacy Course

Education Qualification

Engineering/Technology (4-year program)
  • Candidates must have completed Higher secondary or any equivalent education with a minimum of 45%.
  • The minimum mark for SC/ST/OBC is 40%.
  • You must have studied Maths and Physics as the main subject.
  • Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical vocational subjects as one of the optional subjects.
Pharmacy (4-year program)
  • Candidates must have completed Higher secondary or any equivalent education with a minimum of 45%.
  • The minimum mark for SC/ST/OBC is 40%.
  • You must have Physics and Chemistry as the mandatory subject.
  • Mathematics/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject as one of the optional subjects.

Domicile

Candidates applying for the BCECE exam must be residents of India. They must also fulfill one of the following domicile criteria:

  • The candidates must be permanent Bihar residents.
  • The Candidates must be refugees in Bihar.
  • Parents of candidates are residents of other states but are employees of Govt. Of Bihar.
  • Parents of the Candidate were employees of Govt. of Bihar before the reorganization, and their employee cadre is yet transferable between Bihar and Jharkhand.
  • Parents of Candidates hold posts in Govt. of India and are posted in Bihar or employees of central organization operated by Public sector Undertaking of Govt. Of India.
  • Parents of Candidates are employees of the national union and are currently posted in Bihar.

Physical Examination

The selected candidates must undergo a medical exam conducted by the doctors. Candidates will get admission only if they clear the exam examination.

Age Limit

There is no minimum age limit for getting admissions to Engineering/Pharmacy courses. If an applicant applies to institutions outside Bihar based on the Bihar quota, then the age limit criteria will be prescribed by each institution.

BCECE Eligibility Criteria for Medical Courses

Education Qualification

  • Candidates must clear class 12 specializing in English, Chemistry, Physics, and Botany/Zoology. You must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. If you belong to SC/ST/EBC, the minimum mark is 40%. The minimum percentage of those with a lower-limb locomotor disability is 45%.
  • For the BUMS course from Tibbi College, Patna, candidates must have studied Urdu as a full-time course at secondary standard and other necessary qualifications.

Age Limit

The rules for admission into the MBBS course would be based on the regulations of the Medical Council of India. Those who are 17 years above or should do the same by December 31 of the year of admission can apply for the exam. The candidate applying should not be born after December 31st, 1999.

Physical Examination

The selected candidates must undergo a medical exam conducted by the doctors. Candidates will get admission only if they clear the exam examination. There will be separate fees for this examination.

Domicile

The domicile criteria for MBBS/BDS would be the same as indicated in the domicile criteria for Engineering and Pharmacy courses.

BCECE Eligibility Criteria for Agriculture, Veterinary Science, and Animal Husbandry

Education Qualification

The minimum education qualification for courses available in Rajendra Agriculture University, Bihar Agriculture University, Pusa, Sabor depends on the following education qualification:

Age Limit

You must be 17 years old by July 1st of the first year of the academic session for the courses mentioned above. There is no upper age limit for these courses.

Physical Examination

The selected candidates must undergo a medical exam conducted by the doctors. Candidates will get admission only if they clear the exam examination. There will be separate fees for this examination.

Domicile

The domicile criteria for courses under Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science, and Animal Husbandry will remain the same as applicable in the case of Engineering and Pharmacy courses.

BCECE Reservation Criteria

The reservation of seats for admission into Bihar colleges is done by following the norms laid down by the Government of Bihar. Here are a few important things you need to know about the BCECE reservation:

  • Residents of Bihar who belong to the reserved category and have a caste certificate from the government authorities of Bihar can enjoy all the benefits of reservation. These candidates will be allotted the search reserved for their categories in different colleges based on their merit.
  • Those who are not residents of BIhar cannot claim seats under the reserved category in Bihar colleges.
  • The reserved categories will be declared on the basis of SC/ST/EBC/BC prepared and approved the Bihar Government prior to the announcement of the application dates.
  • Here is the seat reservation for reserved categories. The remaining 50% is for the General category candidates:
