JEE Main Cut-Off for NITs 2025 – Qualifying Cut-Offs

The JEE Main cut-off is the minimum score required to qualify for JEE Advanced 2025. JEE Main 2025 Session 1 for the B.E./B.Tech exams was held from January 22 to January 29. Following the release of the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 Results, the NTA will announce the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility cut-off. The JEE Main 2025 Cut-offs for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs will be posted on the official websites of JoSAA and CSAB after each round of counselling.

A JEE Main 2025 score of 180 or above is regarded as good based on past trends. Students in the general category who receive grades above 200 are eligible to enrol in esteemed universities such as IIIT Hyderabad or NIT Trichy. If an OBC student’s score is between 180 and 200, they may be admitted to IIIT Bangalore or NIT Warangal. For the new NITs, like NIT Manipur, SC students require 150+ points, while ST candidates require 120-130 points.

Those seeking admission to IITs and NITs need to clear JEE Main Exam with a minimum required cut-off marks. Every year, lakhs of students appear for the Joint Entrance Examination, so the competition is too high because only a few candidates are eligible for JEE Advanced.

Factors Affecting JEE Main Cut-Off

The JEE Main cutoff scores fluctuate every year due to a variety of factors. The cutoff varies annually, so candidates who intend to sit for the upcoming JEE Main 2025 exam should be aware of this.

  • The number of applicants Arriving: An increase in test takers may result in more competition, which could raise the cutoff scores.
  • Level of the Challenge Exam: Because fewer applicants are likely to receive high scores, the cutoff may decrease if the exam is more difficult in a particular year. However, a more straightforward exam could lead to a higher cutoff for the 2025 JEE Main Result.
  • Total Number of Seats Available: The cutoff is influenced by the number of seats available in participating institutions. A lower cutoff might result from more seats, whereas a higher cutoff might result from fewer seats.
  • Overall Candidate Performance: The cutoff is likely to increase if many candidates exhibit exceptionally high performance. On the other hand, the cutoff might drop if overall performance is worse.
  • The Cutoff Trends from the Past Year: Cutoff data from the past is used as a standard. Because expectations are frequently guided by patterns, significant changes from prior years may have an impact on the cutoff for this year.
  • Reservation Policies and Seat Allocation: The cutoff scores for each group may be impacted by the application of reservation policies for different categories (such as SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD) and the allocation of seats among these groups.
