NCR Full Form | What is the Full Form of NCR?

NCR Full form is National Capital Region. NCR is a centrally located region centered upon the National Capital Territory (NCT) in India. NCT is referred to as a city and a union territory of India-‘Delhi’, the capital city of India. NCR is the metropolitan region in India that constitutes the entire territory of Delhi and urban areas of its neighboring states- Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

Origin of NCR

NCR was created in the year 1985 under the National Capital Region Planning Board Act. It was formed to plan the region’s development and to bring under control the land and infrastructural development in the region.

Population

It is one of the world’s largest agglomerations, with an estimated population of over 1.90 crores (as of 2019).

Economy

The NCR, including all of its states and districts, generated a GDP of $370 billion (as of 2016), contributing 8% to India’s GDP. NCR has generated remarkable industrial growth in the regions like Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, and Ghaziabad. For example, the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi primarily comprises tertiary or services sector industries; Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Rajasthan dominate in the primary sector. Haryana has supported the setting up of firms from the industrial and service sectors. Gurugram district has shown tremendous growth due to the rapidly expanding software sector. Panipat in Haryana is developing as a major trade center. An electronics manufacturing cluster (EMC), a Greenfield project, is now being installed in the Bhiwadi district of Rajasthan.

The National Capital Region Planning Board Act, 1985 states that there are 23 districts of adjoining states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, along with NCT of Delhi, that form the National Capital Region (full form of NCR). These states and their respective districts are listed below:
