Q 4: A Machine P can print one lakh books in 8 Hrs, Machine Q can print the same number of books in 10 Hrs while Machine R can print them in 12 Hrs. All the machine are started at 9 a.m. while Machine P is closed at 11 a.m and the renaming two Machine complete the work. Approximately at what time will the work be finished:

1. 1 p.m.
2. 11:30 a.m.
3. 12 noon.
4. 12:30 p.m.

Q 5: A,B and C are on a trip by a car. A Drive During the first hour at an average speed of 50 km/hr. B Drives the during the next 2 hours at an average speed of 48 km/hr. C Drives for the next 3 hours at an average speed of 52 km/hr. They reached their destination after exactly 6 hours. Their speed was:

1. 52 km/hr.
2. 55 – 1/3 km/hr.
3. 50 km/hr.
4. 51— 1/3 km/hr.

Solutions:

1. Let the number be x and (184-x). Then

X/3 – (184-x)/7 =8

7x – 3(184 – x) =168.

10x = 720. So x = 72.

So the Numbers are 72 and 112. Hense smallest Number is 72.

2. Let the C.P of the Watches be Rs x and Rs (840-x).

So (116% of x) + ( 88% of (840-x)) = 840.

So 116x + 73920 – 88x = 84000

28x = 10080.

So x = 360

So their cost prices are Rs 360 and Rs 480.

3.   Let C’s Capital = Rs x.

Then B’s Capital = Rs 2/3 x.

A’s Capital = Rs (3 * 2/3  x) = Rs 2x.

Ratio of their Capital =  2x : 2/3 x : x = 6:2:3.

Hense B’s Share = Rs( 6600 * 2/11) = Rs 1200.

4.    Work done by P+ Q+R in 1 Hrs is ( 1/8 +1/10+1/12) = 37/120.

Work done by P,Q,R in 2 Hrs = (37/120 *2) = 37/60.

1 Hrs work of Q+R is (1/10 + 1/12) = 11/60.

Now, 11/60 work is done by Q and R in 1 Hrs.

So 23/60 work will be done by Q and R in ( 60/11 * 23/60) = 23/11 = 2 Hrs.

So the work will be finished approx. 2 Hrs after 11 A.M i.e 1 P.M.

5.    Total distance travelled = (50 * 1 + 48 * 2 + 52 * 3)km = 302 km.

Total time taken = 6 hrs.

So Mean speed is (320/6) km/hr = 50 -1/3 km/hr
