Every year 9th of January is celebrated as NRI Day (Pravasi Bharatiya Divas) to signify the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa in 1915. The grand event is organized jointly by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, the FICCI, and the CII, attracting a huge population of the Indian diaspora.
