Dr. Vikas Divyakirti is the founder and managing director of ‘Drishti IAS,’ an organization active in the Civil Services Preparation since 1999. He started his professional career as an assistant professor at Delhi University. In 1996, he cleared the Civil Services Examination in his first attempt and worked for a year at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. After that, he resigned from his post, returned to teaching, and established ‘Drishti IAS.’Dr. Vikas has a Ph.D. in Hindi Literature from Delhi University and has pursued studies in various other disciplines like Sociology, Philosophy, Law, and Management.
Presently, Dr. Vikas is actively involved as an educator in creating content for YouTube. He dreams of seeing our society having a ‘Culture of Discourses’ wherein social-political issues are understood through free & constructive discussions and not by enforced consensus or herd mentality. IAS Vikas Divyakirti Biography and Education
Dr. Vikas was born in Haryana on Sunday, 26 December 1976. He belongs to a middle-class Hindu Family, and his caste is Haryanvi. He is now around 46 and one of India’s most successful teachers. He belongs to a middle-class and educated family. His father and mother were professors at Delhi University and would teach Hindi Sahitya. He is a professional teacher, and most of his income comes from teaching.
He is married to DR. Taruna Verma, and they have a son named Swastik Divyakirti. He has always been a man of culture and Land. He was always a bright student and knew he had to serve his nation. As a student, he would always be involved in his study. He completed middle and high school in Saraswathi Shishu Mandir in Haryana. After completing high school, He decided to do a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History at Delhi University. Then, he decided to do his Master’s in Art (MA) in Hindi Literature and Sociology at Delhi University.
He was so focused on his studies that he holds a degree in LLB, M.Phil, and even a PhD. Though he holds many qualifications, he received a PG degree in English-to-Hindi translation from Delhi University.

His Tips to UPSC Aspirants/Students
- As a teacher, he has tips and suggestions for students and IAS aspirants for the IAS test preparations. According to Dr. Vikas Divyakirti, Prelims is only a qualifying test. Thus, the Student needs to concentrate on the Main test. In addition, he says they need to skip their effort in preparation for the Prelims as there is no valuable time they need to prepare for the Main test. Again, because it is only a qualifying test, most students crack easily. He advises students to establish realistic goals to become qualified candidates or target members for the monitors. So, he suggests using their energy wisely on the Prelims, as there is less time to ensure that all the syllabus they need to study is done.
- Vikas sir says students must make a proper schedule and distribute equal timing for various topics. Vikas sir suggests everyone should read the success stories of other IAS officers.
