Before you prepare to fill out the application form, it is critical that you ensure you are fulfilling the eligibility criteria set by the exam and then proceed. 

Once you have ensured you are eligible, you can go ahead with the process as follows and make sure you keep the mentioned documents handy to complete the registration in one go.

You should remember that the CAT application form is divided into two parts as follows.

• Registration: Applicable for candidates applying for the first time. 
• Application: Applicable for the candidates who have completed the first part of the registration or are repeat candidates. 

CAT New Registration: Step By Step Guide

Here is a step-by-step guide to fill in your CAT application form.

Step 1:  Visit the CAT Official Website.

Step 2: Click on the New Registration Option if you are a first-time candidate.

Step 3: Once the tab opens, click and fill in the basic details below to generate an OTP.

• Name of the candidate (given in the Class 10th/12th mark sheet)
• Date of birth
• Valid email address
• Valid mobile number

Step 4: To complete the registration process, you need to generate an OTP by clicking on the “Generate OTP” button.

Step 5: After filling in the OTP, you need to fill in the CAPTCHA Code to confirm your registration. However, don’t forget to sign the declaration from right beside it by clicking on“ I Agree”.

Step 6: Registration confirmation

Once you have successfully done this process, you will have your login credentials in your registered mobile number.

After CAT Registration Process: Step By Step Guide

Now that you have successfully registered yourself in the CAT system, you can fill up the application form. You can directly jump into the application form once you have registered yourself. Or you can come back later and follow the below process.

Step 1: Log in to the CAT Official Website

You need to log in to the official website using the CAT user ID and password that you generated through registration.

Step 2: Click on the “Go to Application Form” tab near the personal details.

Step 3: Fill out the CAT application form.

The CAT registration form is divided into six different categories as follows:

• Personal details
• Academic qualifications
• Work experience
• Programmes
• Test Cities
• Payment

Let us now see what these sections demand you to follow for a quick overview. 

Note: Before filling out the application form, you must read the instructions properly. Although you can exit and save the details to fill out the form later, you need to know that you cannot move to the next section of the application form until you have entered all the necessary details.

Personal Details

• Enter Father’s/Husband’s/Guardian’s Name and Mother’s Name as applicable
• Select the Category
  • If you are from the reserved category, enter the following – Serial/Entry Number of Caste/Tribe, State/Union Territory of Caste/Tribe, and Caste/Tribe Name.
• Nationality.
• Communication address details.
• Upload documents.

In this section, you need to upload the following documents:

Passport Size Photograph	30mm X 45mm Must have a white background.	.jpg or .jpeg	Not more than 80 KB
Signature	80mm X 35mm Must have a white background	.jpg or .jpeg
EWS/NC-OBC/SC/ST	Download the certificate from the CAT official website, enter the required information and self-attest, and scan it as a PDF document.

Academic qualifications

• This is one of the most critical sections of the form, since one mistake here can even lead to a cancellation of your candidature regardless of your marks. You have to ensure you fill in the required numbers as per the instructions given on the form. 

📢📢 If you are someone who is yet to complete their final exams before CAT make sure you put in an average of the last two years’ marks as the aggregate percentage to proceed further.

✅In this section, you need to enter the following qualification details:

• SSC/ 10th/ Equivalent details.
• HSC/ 12th/ Equivalent/ Diploma course details.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Master’s degree.
• Other acclaimed degrees.

Once you have entered all the details, click on the “Save and Continue” button.

Work experience

If you have any proper employment experience after your graduation that is not freelancing, self-proprietorship setup, or an internship, you can fill in the relevant details here.

Programs

This section allows you to choose your preferred IIMS and the programs or courses you wish to pursue.

Test Cities

• You need to enter 5 CAT Test cities as per your preference. One out of the five preferences will be allotted to the students based on their availability.
• If the preferred CAT exam center is not allotted, then the nearby test city will be allotted.
• Note: You cannot choose the same city for multiple preferences.

Payment

After filling out the application form, the last step is to pay the application fees online.

📢 Before filling up the payment section and proceeding with it make sure that you click on the“ Preview” option to ensure you have filled up all the correct relevant details.

There has been a slight increase in the fees for this year, which is as follows.

SC, ST and PwD	₹1250
Others	₹2500

Select the payment mode from any of the following:

• BillDesk
• PayU

You will be redirected to the payment gateway once you have checked the Preview and clicked on the “I Declare” button. These are the following ways through which you can pay for the CAT exam application form.

• Credit card.
• Debit card ATM PIN.
• Internet banking.
• Wallet/ Cash card.
• Debit Card.

After successfully paying the application fees, you will find the payment transaction number on the screen.

Application Confirmation Email

After completing the application process, you will receive an email stating the successful completion of the CAT registration process. The email will also provide information regarding the CAT admit card and more.

Application Summary

You can see your application form summary in the “read-only” view format whenever you log in to the CAT official website.

• Firstly, you have to register on the official website to generate a unique user ID and password.
• Log in with the generated user ID and password to fill out the CAT application form.
• Submit the CAT application form by entering your personal, educational, and work details and making online payments to complete the CAT registration process.
• During the registration, you need to enter your valid mobile number and email address, which will be used for candidate verification with the help of OTP.
• Once the OTP is verified, the candidates will receive an ID and password.
• Once you have made the payment, you will not be allowed to change your application form. So make sure you provide the right information before submitting the application form.
