CAT Cutoff 2023: Expected Cutoffs & Previous Year Cutoff

CAT cutoff 2023 will be released by the IIM on their official website after the CAT results have been announced. The minimum mark required for the candidates to get admission into one of the best MBA colleges is known as the CAT cutoff.

The CAT cutoff to get admissions into the best IIMs range from 99% to 100% for general category candidates. However, candidates belonging to the reserved category need to score between 97% to 98%.

The cutoff for the 2023 exam is yet to be released. However, in this post, we have given the expected CAT cutoff 2022 and previous years’ CAT cutoff for 2021, 2020, 2019, and more.

All the IIMs announce their minimum CAT cut-offs on the official website to select the candidates for the final selection round. The CAT cutoff 2022 is yet to be released. However, the candidates can check the previous year’s CAT cutoff.

Factors Determining CAT Cutoff 2022

The IIM that conducts the CAT exam will release the CAT cutoffs after the CAT results. Here are some of the factors that authorities keep in mind while preparing the CAT cutoffs. Here are the key factors considered by IIMs:

    • The difficulty level of exam: The higher the exam difficulty, the lower the CAT cutoff, and vice versa.
    • Number of candidates appearing for the exam: The total number of candidates appearing in CAT 2022 will affect the CAT cutoff. That is, the more candidates appear for the exam, the higher the CAT cutoff and vice versa.
    • The number of seats available: The number of seats will also affect the cutoff. 
    • The reputation of the Institute: Well-recognized institutions ranked under the NIRF management ranking will set cutoffs that are higher.
    • Previous year cutoff trends: The 2022 cutoff will be based on the previous year’s cutoff trends.
