Those who wish to serve as an officer or non-officer position in Indian Defense services, i.e., Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, need to qualify the written test and some medical and physical standards defined by those forces.

Physical & Medical standards for Armed Forces
1. Height
Here we are going to list all the specifications. The height requirements specified by the medical standards for Armed Forces are as follows:
- Male candidate’s height must be above 157.5 cm.
- Femalecandidate’ss height must be above 152 cm.
The conducting authority will provide 5 cm Height relaxation to those candidates who belong to Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese and Garhwalis (or belonging to the North East and other hilly areas) Categories.
2. Weight

However, in the case of candidates belonging to the North East and hilly area like Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese, and Garhwalis, the weight standards would differ depending on their height.
3. Chest
Here candidates will be able to find the chest requirement to fit as per medical standards for Armed Forces is as follows:
- Candidate’s chest must be well-formed as decided by the authority.
- In the case of male candidates, the minimum range of expansion of chest or inhalation should be 5 cm.
Note:
Measurements standard should be like that
- Candidates whose chest expansion less than 0.5 cm will be recorded as 0.0 cm
- Candidates whose chest 0.5 cm will be recorded as 0.5 cm
- Candidates whose chest expansion would be more than 0.5 cm will be recorded as 1 cm.

4. Physical conditions
For armed forces, physical standard are listed here, which are follows as:
- Those whose ears are in wax are not eligible or permitted.
- Candidates must not have any skin disease i.e., Acne vulgaris, warts, a fungal infection.
- Candidates should not have any dental cavities, including temporary filling and minimum of 14 dental points.
- Candidates must not have undergone a hernia/abdominal operation in the past one year.
- Candidates must not have had hydrocele, varicocele, piles disease in the past.
- Candidates would lead to immediate rejection if in case of any disease of bones and joints of the body.
- Candidates must not have any history of mental breakdown or fits.
- Candidates must have the minimum or normal hearing ability (It is required).
- If the medical authority finds any disease of the heart signs of functional or blood vessel, then candidates would lead to rejection.
- Candidate’s blood pressure should be normal pressure.
5. Vision/Visual Standards

6. Tattoos
Candidates can not make or create tattoos on a permanent basis except:
- The inner face of forearms
- The reverse side of the palm or back
However, The authority is Permitted to have permanent body tattoos on any part of the body as per existing customs and traditions of the said tribe to which a candidate belong—candidates who belong to tribal communities or from tribal areas, as declared.
Conclusion
If a candidate cannot fulfill the eligibility criteria of medical standards because of being underweight, overweight, etc. These types of candidates can raise a reconsideration test to the medical board of the recruitment authority after successful proper treatments for conditions within the stipulated period.
