TANCET Counselling 2024 – Check Counselling Date, Centres and Process

TANCET counselling 2024 is expected to start in May 202. Here in this post, we have explained the TANCET counselling process, how to register, and more in detail.

TANCET Counselling Overview

  • TANCET counseling 2024 will be conducted separately for GATE, General, and Sponsored Categories.
  • Candidates who have scored marks more than the cutoff in their GATE exam need not show their TANCET exam score during the counselling process.
  • The TANCET counselling process includes certificate verification, rank preparation, and seat allocation.

TANCET Counselling Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) can appear for counselling.

Additionally, the candidates must have any one of the following: 

  • TANCET marks
  • GATE 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022/2023 qualified score in the appropriate discipline of Engineering / Technology 
  • GATE 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022 /2023 qualified score in Engineering Science (XE) and Life Science (XL) papers and TANCET scores 2023.

How to Register for TANCA Counselling 2024?

Candidates need to register separately for each category. GATE – Engineering / Technology, GATE – Engineering Science (XE), and Life Science (XL) / TANCET / Sponsored.

Candidates other than GATE (Engineering / Technology) must have appeared for the TANCET entrance exam. Candidates must fulfill the required eligibility criteria to get admission. 

  • Candidates must register online on the TANCET counselling web portal.
  • You must enter a valid mobile number and email ID. Follow the steps given below to register:
  • Enter your education and exam details like Marks, Percentage of Marks, Year of Passing, Board / Institute details, Category, and other relevant details.
  • Upload your photograph as per the image guidelines.
  • Click on the save/submit button.
  • Check the filled forms once and make the changes if required. If there are any discrepancies, then the application will be rejected.
  • Click submit and save button and pay the online fees.

TANCA Registration Fees

  • Candidates who belong to the general category must pay ₹500, while the candidates belonging to SC/SCA/ST category must pay ₹250. 
  • Those who want to apply for more than one category need to pay ₹500 (INR 250 for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) for each category.

Documents Required for TANCA Counselling 2024

You need to scan and upload the following documents while registering for TANCA counselling: 

  • X Std. Mark Sheet
  • XII Std. Mark Sheet or Diploma (3 years) Certificate
  • Qualifying Degree certificate, provisional certificate, and mark sheets of all semesters or Consolidated mark sheet. (Copy of both sides should be uploaded)
  • Transfer certificate from the institution last studied
  • Valid GATE 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022 scorecard and TANCET 2022 hall ticket for the GATE (Engineering Science-XE / Life Science -XL) category
  • Valid GATE 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022 scorecard for GATE (Engineering / Technology) category
  • Nativity Certificate only in electronic form / digitally signed e-Certificate. (if applicable)
  • TANCET Hall Ticket for TANCET category and Sponsored full-time category
  • ‘Permanent Community Certificate’ in card format or electronic form / digitally signed e-Certificate in the case of BC, BC Muslim, MBC / DNC & SC/SC(Arunthathiyars)/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu.
  • Certificate of Disability for Differently Abled Person (if applicable)
  • Copy of identification certificate obtained from the HeadQuarters Tahsildar or Visa, Passport, and letter registered in Police Station (For Srilankan Refugee candidates)
  • Experience Certificate (if applicable).

Registration for Sponsored Category

Candidates applying under the Sponsored Category will get Admission only to the University Departments of Anna University, Chennai. 

Admission

A limited number of unfilled GATE seats will be available for sponsored Full-Time Category for the candidates employed and sponsored by the Government / Government Organisations / Government Aided Educational Institutions under sponsored category in Anna University Departments Chennai.

Sponsored Registered Professional Architects with a minimum of five years of professional experience can get `admission to M.Arch. Degree program under Sponsored Category at University Department, School of Architecture & Planning, Anna University, Chennai – 25. 

All the candidates under sponsored category should have appeared in TANCET 2024. 

Criteria

The candidates admitted under sponsored category must satisfy the following conditions:

Candidates shall

  • Be deputed with full pay and allowances during the period of study. 
  • Scored at least 50% in aggregate in the qualifying degree exam. 
  • Have two years of full-time experience in the relevant field to which admission is sought after passing the qualifying degree.

Steps to Apply in Sponsored Category

Those who want to apply for TANCET counselling must have the following: 

  • have appeared in TANCET 2024
  • Apply on the web portal.
  • Take a printout of the online application.
  • Send the filled application through the proper channel with necessary documents to one of the following addresses based on the choice of college.

TANCET Counselling 2024

  • The TANCET seat allotment will happen only via counselling. Candidates selected for counselling will be more than the number of seats available.
  • Candidates must check the seats from the web portal.
  • Admissions will be provided based on the merit of the candidate and as per the reservation norms laid down by the Tamil Nadu government.
  • Admission will be provided only for one course. 
  • Candidates applying under the GATE category must appear for counselling with GATE 2019 / 2020 / 2021 / 2022 results.
  • If there are any unfilled seats in the GATE category, they will be converted to the TANCET category. 
  • You can download the Call Letter from the Anna University web portal by entering your TANCA application number, Name, and Date of Birth.
  • The counselling will be held at Anna University, Chennai – 25.
  • You must attend the counselling with all the original certificates.
  • At the time of counselling, you need to pay Rs. 5,300/- (Rs. 1,150/- for SC / SCA / ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu) in the form of a Demand Draft, which includes a non-refundable fee of Rs. 300/-towards counselling fee (Rs.150/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu). The Demand Draft should be drawn in favor of “The Secretary, TANCA, Anna University,” payable at Chennai. Once you have paid the fees, you can attend the counselling with all the original certificates.
  • Once a seat is allotted, the amount of Rs.5,000/- for the general category or Rs.1,000/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates already paid at the time of counselling will be adjusted towards the tuition fee to be paid to the respective allotted college.

TANCET Seat Allotment 2024

  • During TANCET Counselling, you must choose the college and your appropriate branches from the list of all the TANCET participating colleges.
  • You must stay informed about the college you choose while counselling.
  • Allotted seats are subject to vacant seats in the college, and a common merit list prepared.
  • Candidates with a better rank in the common merit list will be given preference over other candidates during the allotment of seats.
  • If you are not satisfied with the allotted seats, you can also appear for the 2nd and 3rd rounds of counseling.
  • Candidates who do not show up in the first phase of counselling or the second phase cannot attend the other phases.
  • Colleges allocated in the last round will be considered final.
