SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2021: Age Limit, Minimum Qualification

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts a Combined Graduate Level (CGL) recruitment examination every year to select eligible candidates for numerous posts in ministries, departments, and organizations and for subordinate staff employment. The official notification for SSC CGL 2021 has been released on 29 December 2021. Application forms were made available online from 29 December 2020 to 31 January 2021, and an application fee of INR 100 was charged for all general candidate students. Reserved category applicants will be exempted from fee payment. The complete details about the SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2021 are given in this article.

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2021

Candidates who are interested in sitting for the exam must carefully go through the eligibility criteria first. It elaborates on necessary details such as academic qualifications, age and number of attempts that are pre-requisites before applying for SSC CGL 2021. Applicants must make sure that they satisfy all the necessary conditions, before registering for the exam.

After checking the SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria thoroughly, candidates can start filling Application Form at the official website, i.e. ssc.nic.in. Applicants must also upload the required documents at the portal and pay the application fee of INR 100 before the last date in order to register themselves successfully. Graduates from a recognized university can apply for SSC CGL 2021. Interested candidates can check the following factors laid down by SSC in order to be eligible for the exam.

Age Limit

  • Candidates applying for SSC CGL 2021 must not be less than 18 years and not more than 32 years of age (as of 1 January 2021).
  • The Age Limit for the post of Tax Assistant has been revised, earlier the age limit was 20 to 27 years, now the age limit for this post has been revised to 18 to 27 years. SSC CGL Age Limit
  • However, the lower and upper limit of age varies for different posts.
  • The age of candidates, as mentioned in the class 10th & 12th certificates will be considered.

Age Relaxation

SSC also offers age relaxation to all reserved category applicants. Before applying for SSC CGL 2021 candidates must keep in mind the prescribed age limit, or else, their application form will be rejected. Given below is the relaxation of the upper age limit for the various categories.

Nationality

As per SCC CGL Eligibility Criteria, a candidate must be a resident of the prescribed states only, in order to eligible to apply for SSC CGL 2021. An applicant must satisfy any one of the following conditions:

  • He/she must be a citizen of India, OR
  • He/she must be a subject of Bhutan/Nepal, OR
  • He/she must be a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before 1 January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling down in India, OR
  • He/she must be a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Uganda, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Ethiopia, Zaire, and Vietnam with the intention of settling down permanently in India.

Educational Qualification

The basic academic requirement that candidates have to fulfill is to have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. There are some other criteria, such as a course of graduation & a minimum percentage that is applicable for different posts.

  • Statistical Investigator Grade II
  1. Basic Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University or Institute with a minimum percentage or equivalent aggregate of 60% in Mathematics at Higher Secondary (class 12th) level OR
  2. A Bachelor’s Degree from a well-recognized University with Statistics as one of the main subjects at degree level.
  • Assistant Audit Officer
  1. Basic Qualification: A graduation degree from a recognized University or Institute.
  2. Additional Qualification: Chartered Accountant / Cost & Management Accountant / Company Secretary /Masters in Commerce/ Business Administration (Finance)/ Business Studies/ Business Economics.
  • Compiler
  1. Basic Qualification: A Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized Institution with either Statistics or Mathematics or Economics as a compulsory or elective subject.
  • Assistant Section Officer (CSS)
  1. Basic Qualification: Graduation Degree from a recognized University.
  2. Additional Qualification: Additionally, candidates must also qualify for the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).

Physical Fitness Requirement

Physical standards also vary for different posts.

For the Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/Preventive officer)

Sex Height Chest Weight
Male 157.5 Cm 81 cm with a minimum of 5 cm expansion. Note: The Garhwali, Gorkhas, Assamese and the ST Candidates have been given a relaxation of 5 cm.
Female 152 Cm 48 kgs.

Note: The Garhwali, Gorkhas, Assamese, and the ST candidates have been given a weight relaxation of 2 kgs.

Physical Test Standards

Before applying for SSC CGL 2021, candidates must also check the Physical Standards as per the Physical Test.

Sex Walking Cycling
Male Applicants will have to cover 1600 meters in 15 minutes Applicants will have to walk 8 km in 30 minutes.
Female Applicants will have to cover 1000 meters in 15 minutes. Applicants will have to walk 3 km in 25 minutes.

For Sub-Inspector in CBI

Male Not less than 165 cms for General category candidates.
Height can be relaxed for tribal & Hill candidates by up to 5 cms.
Minimum 76 cms Eye-sight (with or without glasses)

Distant vision: 6/6 in one & 6/9 in the other eye.

Near vision 0.6 in one eye & 0.8 in another eye.

Female 150 cms Same as Male
